Textile + Fit Development

Choose the Fabric Before You Choose the Finish.

Match composition, GSM, hand feel and shrinkage to the intended streetwear silhouette before print, wash or bulk production decisions are locked.

01Define the target silhouette first: relaxed, oversized, boxy or heavyweight streetwear.
02Compare fabric weight, surface, drape and wash response against the intended product character.
03Approve fabric and fit together before decoration and bulk production are finalized.

Consulting FocusFabric · GSM · Hand Feel · FitThe right material should support the silhouette, wash direction and decoration method—not fight them.
Core Decisions

Four Things to Confirm Together.

GSM alone does not define a good streetwear fabric. Structure, drape, surface, shrinkage and the target fit all need to work as one product system.

01 / Composition

Fiber & Blend

Choose cotton or blended construction around hand feel, durability, wash direction and end-use requirements.

02 / Weight

GSM & Structure

Use fabric weight together with knitting density and drape to support the intended oversized or boxy silhouette.

03 / Stability

Shrinkage & Wash

Consider how washing, garment dye or vintage finishing may change dimensions, surface and overall character.

04 / Compatibility

Fit & Decoration

Confirm that the selected fabric works with the pattern block, print method, embroidery or other finishing processes.

Fabric Changes the Silhouette

Fit and Material Should Be Developed Together.

A measurement chart does not tell the whole story. Two T-shirts with the same measurements can hang very differently when fabric weight, stiffness and drape change.

Body ShapeHeavier or denser fabrics can hold a boxier outline, while softer fabrics create more drape.
Sleeve & ShoulderFabric structure affects how drop shoulders, wider sleeves and oversized proportions visually sit on the body.
Wash ResponsePre-production sampling helps check shrinkage, surface change and whether the approved fit is retained after finishing.
Consulting Workflow

Brief. Compare. Sample.

The purpose is to narrow the material direction before bulk—not to overwhelm the project with too many fabric options.

01 / Brief

Define the Product

Share the target fit, product weight, finish, price direction and reference garments or tech pack.

02 / Compare

Narrow the Fabric

Compare suitable compositions, GSM ranges, surfaces and hand feel around the intended streetwear character.

03 / Sample

Validate the Combination

Review fit, shrinkage, wash response and decoration compatibility on the actual sample before bulk approval.
